A Time of Withouts...

Note: You can click on each picture to view if larger.

We continue to do what we can here, but it seems it is not enough. There are so many people without homes, without families, without jobs, without food. It seems to be a time of "withouts" to so many people. Those who have homes are scared to stay in them, so everyone is sleeping outside. Many are asking for tents because they are tying bed sheets together for their homes. But in the mist of all the confusion there is a native people here who are living as if nothing has happened. As if it is another day. I continue to try to use my mind to understand this and there are no words that come. But I know that in the mist of all this I see the hand of my God working in a mighty way which I have never witnessed before. It is awesome how the world has responded to the need here and how so many relationships are being built for the Kingdom of God.

We went to Gonaives on Tuesday to see if there was any way we could help there in hospitals or other ways. Things seemed to be normal there, so we visited our friends and made provision for the continuation of the feeding center and we returned back to PAP on Wednesday. It has been great working with the staff at Sherrie's, Brian and Ken Smith from Omaha rapid Response, and other teams. Johnny Aldrige has been loving on so many babies. It has been great to have him and Ronnie walking with me during this time. While we were in Gonaives, we had the opportunity to have a fellowship meal with the Pakistani UN. During that Time one of the Muslims asked me how it is I could leave the comforts of home to serve people in a place like this. What an opportunity it was for me to share about the power of my God who has called me here.

We have been trying to receive food through different organizations, but it has been difficult. We have purchased rice and beans. Much has been distributed and there is still more to distribute. Thanks for those of you who have given that we are able to help buy food here for the people living in these tents. We are trying to reach the ones in smaller tent communities where the larger organizations are not helping. We have not had any problems thus far with people fighting for food. It is great to be able to give to the friends which we already have a relationship with.

We went to Leogane on Thursday morning and Jacmel on Thursday evening. There are so many houses destroyed. Please continue to pray for these. On the way to Jacmel. the road had been blocked by earth, rocks and boulders falling off the mountain. They are working on clearing the road.

It was great to see Sherrie return to her work here. What a blessing and a testimony of God's goodness which she has. Please pray for provision for her as she seeks God's will. She is working on building the fence and needs to get a roof on her building. The team from Omaha Rapid Response arrived and are out in the field now. Some are at Sherrie's helping her and others are in the tent communities helping with the medical needs. Please pray for those who are here to help out. What an opportunity there is to show God's awesome love in the mist of this.

Mary is still in Georgia. Please pray with us about her time of return. We would like to thank all of you who have been supporting us through this. May God bless you as you serve Him by serving others. The need in Gonaives is great but during this time the need is great here also. Please prayerfully consider helping Sherrie or Dorthy with their needs during this time. You can give to CLF and designate to them if God would have you to. We love each of you and continue to covet your prayers for the people of Haiti.

From Port-au-Prince

We arrived late in the afternoon on Sunday after a long 5 hour bus ride from Santo Dimingo. Brian and His dad Ken from Omaha Rapid Response met us at the border and brought us into PAP. We met Kathy and the others from Waynesville at the airport where they were Receiving supplies. The airfield is full of supplies with so many planes coming in with supplies and people from all over the world. After that we traveled to Smith's house where we Joined others sleeping in tents in the front yard.
On Sunday we began visiting many of our friends in PAP to see what their needs were and to pray with them. Our good friend Pastor Marcelin lost his 26 year old son during the earthquake. He was a student at the college.
As we walked through the familiar streets and alley ways, it was devastated with rubble everywhere and people continuing to stand in unbelief. Many have lost their families. As we walked, people would tell us how many people died in each house that had fallen. Everywhere there was a vacant lot, or soccer field people would make tents out of bedsheets and the lot would be filled with them for people to stay in. They are constantly telling us they are hungry and don't have anything. Please continue to pray for these families.
We visited City Solei with Pastor Rameau. There were also many houses down there, but not as much because most of the houses there were made of tin. Please pray for the people in city Solei.

The providence guest house is on the ground. The Walls guest house where Mary and I and the team from Va. stayed on the night of January 1st is mostly on the ground. The CMBH guest house is still standing, but I don't know the condition.

There is a lot of food coming in at the airport, but you have to have connections to get it. Kathy and her team have been doing a great job building relationships there, but we need to get food which is not available to be purchased on the streets. Beans are not available on the street for purchase, so Brian had to buy them in the DR. Pray that we get the food we need to distribute whether by being available on the streets to purchase or in the airport. We met with many local Pastors yesterday and today we will be packaging some Rice and beans with oil and let the Pastors help us distribute them. Please pray for for this process.

December Update and a New Year

Sorry for the delay in posting this update. If you are here for an earthquake update please see post below. If you are here for information on the Auction please see link at the top of the page. This post was an update from the New Year and before the earthquake. ~~Lori
Though this year has had it's challenges, it has been an awesome year in Jubilee Blanc as we have seen The Body of Christ functioning in a way which changes lives for things eternal. Because of your faithfulness in prayers and support through the power of God, we have seen many people healed, many people who have come to Christ, and construction of temporary feeding center and classrooms. In September, the school was started with Kindergarten class. In November, we began the foundation of the permanent building for classrooms and medical clinic which allows several of the men and women to have jobs for the provision of their families. We have also hired a nurse who is monitoring the elderly with blood pressure issues and helping with the medical needs in Jubilee. We are praying for God's provision as this continues. It has truly been an awesome year as we have seen the hand of God in so many ways. As you reflect on what God has called you to do this past year, I pray it has been a year of following Christ for you and may God give you a new year of vision as you follow Him in all you think and do during the coming year.
On December 9th the team arrived from Omaha with Omaha rapid response and were very instrumental in helping us prepare our home for other teams who are coming. It was a blessing to those in Jubilee because of the long term relationships which are being built through their continued presence here. Kim Gould also returned during this time to help with medical needs and to test the blood of children and continue vitamin program. Thanks to those of You who are building Relationship into the Kingdom of God.

December the 19th-26th we were blessed with the presence of Joe and Tami Barber from Brunswick Ga. They are educators who spent their Christmas break bringing life and hope to some children who do not have much hope. They spent their time pouring God's love into the children in the school, the teachers, and many others in the community. They helped to encourage the parents about the importance of their children's education and the need for them to attend school. Their encouragement was well received by all. It was a blessing having Tami and Joe to give encouragement to all and to encourage us by helping out in many ways. Mary and Tami taught the children through games and puppets. It was a joyous time for all.

December the 26th through January the 2nd, Dina Slusher returned with a team from Roanoke Va. It was a blessing to have them. The team consisted of Pastors, nurses, construction workers, and those who loved children. The ministers encouraged pastors in Jubilee through the study of God's word. They also visited their homes and churches individually and prayed for them. The nurses were able to do a few clinics and serve many who dropped in for help. The construction team were able to build one house and put a roof on another for one of the widows there in Jubilee. There was much time for those who interacted and showed God's love toward the children. It was truly a relationship building week. Please continue to pray for those who are visiting and making a difference in the lives of God's people here.

We returned to South Ga on Saturday Jan 2nd to spend a little time with family and friends and have a rest to ourselves. On Saturday evening, it was good to see family and friends at the traditional family cane grinding and candy pulling. This week we will be meeting our children in the mountains of N.C. to spend some time with them. Please pray for us as we travel.

The feeding center is going well. Amos is now equipped to deliver the food each day. Marvin is staying with Merci Dieu while we are away where he will be close to school. Aron continues to do well and we are continuing to pray for someone to adopt him.

Thank you for co laboring with us!!
